Job Summary
The Pastry Chef is a skilled professional responsible for preparing a wide variety of delicious desserts, pastries, and sweet goods.
PRINCIPAL RESPONSIBILITIES AND DUTIES
- Ensure timely cake and pastry production for timely packaging and delivery of products.
- Follow recipes and adjust as necessary based on batch size or specific customer requirements
- Monitor and inspect the consistency, texture, and appearance of products to ensure they meet the bakery’s high quality standards
- Measure and prepare ingredients for baking products.
- Ensure that all ingredients are fresh and stored properly.
- Experiment with new and approved recipes or variations on existing products to create unique baked goods.
- Adapt traditional and approved recipes for the local market and customer preferences.
- Monitor stock levels of ingredients and notify the supervisor of re-order level.
- Maintain records of ingredients used, production sheets and inventory turnover
- Maintain cleanliness and organization of the bakery work area and equipment.
- Adhere to food safety regulations and hygiene practices.
- Ensure that all equipment are cleaned and maintained according to bakery protocols.
- Assist in marketing and promotional activities to increase sales in the Bakery
Requirements / Qualifications
- Diploma or Certificate in food and Beverage, Baking Technology or relevant field.
- 3 to 5 years relevant work experience.
- A Food and Safety Hygiene certification.
- Business Management and Supervisory training would be an added advantage.
- Proficiency working with Ms Word and Excel.
- Possess excellent interpersonal and communication skills, good judgement and a high level of integrity and respect for confidentiality.
