Report to : Bakery Supervisor

Liaises with: Bakery staff, stores, catering department staff, managers and external clients

Job Summary

The Pastry Chef is a skilled professional responsible for preparing a wide variety of delicious desserts, pastries, and sweet goods.

PRINCIPAL RESPONSIBILITIES AND DUTIES

  • Ensure timely cake and pastry production for timely packaging and delivery of products.
  • Follow recipes and adjust as necessary based on batch size or specific customer requirements
  • Monitor and inspect the consistency, texture, and appearance of products to ensure they meet the bakery’s high quality standards
  • Measure and prepare ingredients for baking products.
  • Ensure that all ingredients are fresh and stored properly.
  • Experiment with new and approved recipes or variations on existing products to create unique baked goods.
  • Adapt traditional and approved recipes for the local market and customer preferences.
  • Monitor stock levels of ingredients and notify the supervisor of re-order level.
  • Maintain records of ingredients used, production sheets and inventory turnover
  • Maintain cleanliness and organization of the bakery work area and equipment.
  • Adhere to food safety regulations and hygiene practices.
  • Ensure that all equipment are cleaned and maintained according to bakery protocols.
  • Assist in marketing and promotional activities to increase sales in the Bakery

Requirements / Qualifications

  • Diploma or Certificate in food and Beverage, Baking Technology or relevant field.
  • 3 to 5 years relevant work experience.
  • A Food and Safety Hygiene certification.
  • Business Management and Supervisory training would be an added advantage.
  • Proficiency working with Ms Word and Excel.
  • Possess excellent interpersonal and communication skills, good judgement and a high level of integrity and respect for confidentiality.
